A Lively Taste Of Scotland At Austenwood Care Home
Austenwood Care Home residents had a real lift this week when they were invited to a Scottish dance class that got the whole room smiling.

It started with the music and a few easy steps and then it just grew from there. Some residents wanted to have a go straight away, others preferred to clap along and watch, but everyone was involved. There were plenty of chuckles as residents found the rhythm, helped each other out and gave the steps another try. It felt more like a social afternoon with music which is exactly why it worked so well.

The energy in the room was infectious and the smiles said it all!

As well as being an easy way to get moving, it gave residents something new to enjoy together and, for some, it brought back familiar memories of Scottish traditions. The best part was seeing how quickly the mood shifted once the tunes started. The room instantly felt lighter, louder and full of chatter.

A huge thank you to the dance instructors for giving us some good fun and memories that will last forever. You made our residents’ day, they thoroughly enjoyed it.
